Today Yahoo! comes up with a new concept called Yahoo! Seal. It will help users to identify the fake sites and to protect their mail IDs. Yahoo Seal is nothing but a Text Message or an image that is bind to your computer. Every time when you open Yahoo Mail Page, you can see for this unique Text message or the image to confirm that you are opening original Yahoo website and not the fake one.

Protection from Phishing

Many people complain that somebody has stolen their Mail ID. It’s one of the worst things to happen to any one. Because the mail contains important personal details and also mail id it is distributed to all. Phishing is nothing but stealing your user name and password by creating fake websites which looks like original sites. Many people loose their mail IDs for such fake websites.

Yahoo! Seal will help you to differentiate between original site and the phishing site by providing system specific identification. So that users can be protected against phishing sites stealing mails.

Creating Yahoo Seal

  1. Open Yahoo Mail and look for the “Are you protected?” widget and click on it.
  2. Now you will be redirected to Yahoo Seal Creation Page.
  3. Here select either a text message or image option.
  4. If you select text message you have to type a unique message (21 Characters long).
  5. If you select image then upload an image like your photo or logo anything that’s unique.
  6. You can also select a color of your choice.
  7. Click on preview. Then Click save this.

That’s it. Whenever you open Yahoo Mail Page look for the text message or the image that you uploaded to confirm that you are in original website.

Note:

  • Remember to click on logout button before closing the browser.
  • Don’t close the browser without logging out completely
